We are in the early stages of planning a possible 10 year anniversary trip since we all last met in Kauai back in 2013. We aren’t sure where all that time has gone but here we are (plus a few additional passengers)! This is more of an idea than anything at this point but we would like to make this a reality if we can make it work.
Bring your kids if you want or drop them off with family. Or bring family to watch them during some of the more active excursions!
At this point, we would just like to gauge overall interest in the idea. We would likely target a week (or maybe even longer) somewhere in the Friday July 14, 2023 – Sunday August 13, 2023 time range (before most schools begin). This is over a year out from now (April 2022). We know this is very far out but would like to give as much advance notice as possible for those who may want to budget or plan for a trip like this. And start saving those credit card miles for airfare! I have spoke with many and we have received a lot of verbal interest in this trip.
And this time we won’t have a wedding to interrupt all the fun island excursions! Depending on group size, if we receive enough interest I think we could also have possibilities to once again negotiate group rates from various resorts for lodging and also potentially negotiate group rates for other excursions or even charter a Napali Coast boat trip. Hiking the Napali Coast (Kalalau Trail) is also a different process from the days of old and now requires a entry reservation (even for the first part of the trail). This will also require advance planning and securing of entry passes.
We would enjoy spending this time together including good food, drinks by the pool, drinks by the bar at night, ocean time, hiking, sight seeing around the island, river tubing, snorkeling, Napali Coast cruising, kayaking, watching the sun rise and set, and just hanging out! Hang out as much as you want or feel free to go off on your own when you want! This is intended to be a very casual trip.
Rough order of next steps
- Gauge initial interest in the idea (submit survey below by May 15, 2022)
- Narrow a date down
- Estimate group size
- Group input on activities, overall itinerary, where to stay, etc…
- Negotiate and secure group rates where possible
- Book!
We don’t have a timeline on the above but I think the sooner we can get to step 5 the better to allow for advance purchase and potentially better rates where possible. Please reach out to us if you have questions or other ideas!
